THE GAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY
Updated July 30, 2021 by Charles Burgar:Crafting the perfect items in Skyrim requires a lot of investment and patience. Forging is an essential part of creating the best possible character and should be understood by all players. We've updated this guide to provide additional information on blacksmithing, including the basic uses of blacksmithing, all blacksmithing perks, and the restore potion glitch that allows you to temper game-breaking weapons.
Why Level Smithing?
Blacksmithing is one of the three main crafting professions in Skyrim that allows for the creation and tempering of weapons and armor. Unlike most games, the best items in Skyrim are locked down by crafting professions. The best armor sets in the game, such as Daedric and Dragonbone gear, are so rare that players are better off creating their own gear.
In addition to creating weapons and armor, blacksmithing is also used to improve the quality of equipment through the use of a whetstone or workbench. Gear can be upgraded to legendary quality, dramatically increasing the item's damage or armor rating. When combined with Enchantment and Alchemy, you can craft items as far as possible.overcome daedric artifactsand world looting.
Leveling Smithing is as easy as using one of the following four methods:
- creating an element
- Temper/upgrade an item
- Read a book that will increase your Blacksmithing skill
- Buy levels from a blacksmithing trainer
Crafting and upgrading equipment are the best means of leveling up the smithy. The resource investment required to raise the Blacksmithing level to 100 is quite intense, requiring only 300 crafted items to fully level.

Metallurgy and Tempering
Blacksmithing is the only crafting profession in Skyrim that has multiple crafting stations, not including the enchanting employees for Enchanting. Each season has a different purpose:
- Forge/Anvil:Craft weapons, armor, ammunition, and jewelry.
- Workbench:Tempers armor, increasing its armor rating.
- Important:Tempers weapons, increasing their damage.
There are also two stations dedicated to resource creation:
- Foundry:Smelt ores and certain Dwemer items into ingots.
- Indoor tanning:Turn animal skin into leather.
Most of your smithing will take place on a forge or anvil. Each item you craft or modify will cost a certain amount of resources., most of which can be found all over the world. If you don't have the necessary resources to craft an item, you can convert them into foundries or tanning racks into ingots or leather strips, basic crafting components that pretty much every recipe requires. By increasing your blacksmithing skill and unlocking perks, you will be able to craft more powerful equipment and temper it more efficiently.

How to Level Metallurgy
As with most of Skyrim's crafting professions, Blacksmithing takes a long time to level up. You will need to craft hundreds of items to reach a blacksmithing skill level of 100, which means you will need some materials. Fortunately, there are a few steps you can take to speed up this process and drastically reduce your investment in resources.
Increased XP gains
Speeding up the leveling process is as easy as sleeping in your own bed. Sleeping in your own bed grants a 10% bonus experience for 8 hours. If you are married and your spouse lives in the same house as you, this bonus increases to 15%. Additionally, the Blacksmithing skill counts in the Warrior skill set in the skill tree menu, which means that Warrior's Guardian Stone grants a 20% experience boost to Blacksmithing.

You must fill in the "lost to ages", you can create Ethereal Crown to align with two Standing Stones at once. Aligning with The Lover and The Warrior Standing Stones will grant a35% experience increase. Combine this with sleep to significantly speed up your grind leveling.
The fastest way to level up the smithy.
Before you start leveling up your blacksmithing skill, make sure your character has as many experience bonuses as possible. Additionally, stock up on as many iron ingots, leather handles, and dwarven metal ingots as possible. These are the materials you need to level up quickly.
The goal is to craft as many iron daggers as possible until you unlock the Dwarven Smithing perk at Blacksmithing level 30. Once obtained, switch to Dwarven Bow Crafting until you reach level 100 Blacksmithing. It's as easy as it sounds, although the resource requirement is quite intense.
Blacksmithing leveling should look like this:
- Obtain the Standing Stone of the Warrior and sleep for 30% more experience.
- If you have the Ethereal Crown, also align with the Lover's Stone for a 45% increase in XP gains.
- Craft Iron Daggers at any Forge until you reach Blacksmithing level 30.
- Gain the Dwarven Blacksmithing perk.
- Craft dwarf bows until you reach blacksmithing level 100.
At this point, you should keep the items you just created until you have enough Soul Gems to enchant each one. Enchanting each item you just made should be enough to also increase your Enchanting ability to 100. For more details on how to level Enchanting, check out ourEnchantment Skills Guide.
